Leak Detection / Investigation

Thermal imaging, is an excellent tool for non destructive fault finding, and for locating central heating pipework and underfloor heating coils embedded into the buildings structure. This is particularly useful when floor or wall fixiation is required in areas where underfloor heating is present.

Water leaks, from plumbing , drainage and central heating pipes can be identified and pin-pointed by a combination of thermal colour images and temperature readings on the monitor. Even when the pipes are laid in the floor screed or under plaster, the heat of the pipes radiates through to the surface and a pattern can easily be detected with the camera. With the aid of this specialist modern technology, the need to dig up large areas, hunting for leaks, within a finished floor with the resultant high repair costs is obviated.

A further benefit can be in aiding in dispute resolution. a thermographic survey of the buildings heating or cooling system can be very useful if an installation is deemed to be operating incorrectly or inefficiently, or, if the performance of the system is in dispute. By utilising thermography, the systems thermal performance can be analyzed and hidden parts of the installation made visible.

Concealed radiator pipework can be checked for temperature, water flow patterns through radiators are all visible through the cameras monitor. Underfloor heating manifold can be spot checked for performance and efficiency, flow temperatures above and below the floors displayed and proof of operation determined. This process will easily identify localised defects within the systems, manifolds, valves or blockages within underfloor heating systems.

By undertaking a non-destructive energy audit of the building, a systems performance can be proven and potential hidden and invisible structural defects highlighted.
