July 2009
FIRST LOW ENERGY HOMES GET GO AHEAD.
Planning and building approval has been obtained to build two 210 sqm ultra low energy homes in the residential area of St Brelade in Jersey. These new homes will incorporate a host of low energy features incorporating, the Swedish insulated foundation system, insulated, underfloor heating and cooling, robust I-Beam construction, mechanical heat recovery ventilation, geothermal heating & hot water units, high specification "Optiwin" glazing systems, rain water harvesting and low energy lighting.

With innovative detailing and near airtight construction these buildings will require an absolute minimum of heat even during the coldest Winter periods. The calculated energy requirement for space heating during Winter is less than 15 watts per sqmtr.

August 2009
Geothermal drilling undertaken on new low energy homes site.

September 2009
The insulated foundations are completed on unit 1 and the final concrete biscuit is about to be poured on unit 2. The rainwater harvesting tanks are installed and final connections taking place.

October
The timber frame design has been completed and a computer designed model generated. 

LoCo's geothermal partners Nibe Energy Systems Limited launch the new "heat pumps for earth" range in Birmingham.
